THE OLIVET DISCOURSE

PART 1

MARK 13:1-13

1. What is Paul saying to us in Philippians 1:29-30?

That as Christians we are not kept out of being persecuted. In fact, because of our faith we will be persecuted. It happened in the early church, and it is happening today and it will continue to happen through the tribulation period, only increasing in intensity!

2. Peter is expounding on this point of suffering for Christ in I Peter 4:16. What point is Peter making?

Too often people will tell you that persecution is a sign of a lack of faith on your part. Wrong! It is a sign that you are a child of God and through those difficult times, let your light shine, let it give to those around you a testimony of Jesus!

3. Why will God’s people be hated by all nations in the end times? See Matthew 24:9.

For your faith in Jesus, for Jesus said "For My name’s sake." You see, the world hates Christ, it has been that way since the church began and it will continue on through the tribulation period. And if they had Christ they will hate those that follow after Him, you and me!

4. What did Jesus mean when He said in Matthew 24:13, "But he who endures to the end shall be saved."?

Those that are His won’t defect from the faith. They won’t follow false teachers. They will hate evil. You see, those who endure till the end are true Christians. Endurance is a mark of the saved!
